The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements called for submissions in June 2020.

The National Mental Health Consumer & Carer Forum (NMHCCF) submitted a response to the call for submissions on 25 June 2020.

Reason for the submission

The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements has released an Issues Paper: Health arrangements in natural disasters.

The NMHCCF’s submission focused on the following key points:

  • Provides responses from a mental health lived experience perspective in relation to the four main issues in the issues paper that include: overview of health arrangements; role of primary care providers in disaster planning, response and recovery; related health impacts – air quality; and research priorities.
