On 6 March 2024, the Department of Social Services called for submissions on a consultation to provide input into the NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce (the Taskforce).
The National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF) welcomed the opportunity to provide input into this consultation on the design and implementation of a new graduated risk-proportionate regulatory model.
The NMHCCF recognises that the establishment of the Taskforce and work being pursued in response to Recommendation 17 in the NDIS Review Final Report are necessary and hugely impactful areas of reform for the NDIS. As the national voice for those with a lived and living experience of mental ill health, as well as their family, carers and kin, the NMHCCF can provide background, themes, and recommendations in response to issues that are related to, or could impact on, people with psychosocial disability and their family, carers and kin.
This submission will discuss the introduction of a new regulatory model for NDIS providers and workers and provide feedback on the proposed regulatory model put forward by the NDIS Review Independent Panel. This submission has been developed following in-depth consultation with members of the NMHCCF.
