The National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum has published its final piece of work titled “We Call for a Mental Health System that Puts Human Rights First.”
It is an empowering position statement calling for bold leadership, real investment in rights-based approaches, and a commitment to ending practices in the mental health system that harm.
We are asking decision-makers, influencers, and leaders in the mental health sector to take up the baton to build a safe, human rights-based, and person-led mental health system in Australia which focuses on:
• Safety without harm,
• Validation and respect, and
• Real choice and agency
Let’s move from rhetoric to resolution.
