A National Combined Voice for Mental Health Consumers and Carers
NMHCCF Combined Lived Experience Voice Workshops - Final Output Report - August 2020
In 2019 the Mental Health Principal Committee (MHPC) provided funding for the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF) for the NMHCCF to lead a process to co-design a new, strong national mental health lived experience voice suited to today’s environment and requirements. It is acknowledged that there are several national bodies that have a role in mental health consumer and carer representation. The work of the NMHCCF was to commence the conversation to meet the request of the MHPC.
The NMHCCF planned to host a national workshop on 16 March 2020 to commence this work. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in this workshop being postponed. The NMHCCF re-focused its approach to this work and, during June 2020, ran a series of workshops, held via video conference, held in each state and territory and with national organisations and representatives. The participants in these workshops were the participants invited to the March 2020 workshop.
The output report from these workshops is attached. The NMHCCF will use the findings from the workshops to prepare a report for the consideration of MHPC.
