- The human rights of our older people with mental ill-health and whether any progress has been made as a result of the Royal Commission that commenced in 2018 recommending that their rights be enshrined in legislation.
- The current trends in access to clinical mental healthcare by older people in Australia since “Better Access” psychological support commenced in 2006.
- Whether mental healthcare reforms are fit for purpose to address the high rates of mental illness in those entering residential aged care, persistent high suicide rates in older men, and increased use of emergency departments and general hospital bed demands.
- The introduction and use of Consumer Peer Work in the context of Older Peoples Mental Health Services grappling with these issues.
