|Representative Title:||ACT Consumer Representative|
In 1993 I was first diagnosed with Depression after being retrenched from the Bank. I was then prescribed anti-depressants which I am still on. However, with counselling and the support of my family I have been able to complete successful careers in employment services, working with prisoners and their families, feeding the homeless, and in the last 5 years, working in the mental health sector
I have also completed all the theoretical units for Certificate IV in Mental Health, and in the past 16 months, I have been working with socially isolated members of the ACT Mental Health Consumer Network. I have served on some 10 committees as a Mental Health Consumer Representative and am currently the ACT Consumer Representative on the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum.
Over the last 40 years I have regularly served on community Boards and Committees as Co-chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and for the past 4 years I have served as Treasurer for the ACT Mental Health Consumer Network (see my resume uploaded).
